During Weezer’s Coachella performance on Saturday afternoon (April 12), frontman Rivers Cuomo confirmed the rumors that a forthcoming movie project was in the works about the beloved indie rock band. “We’ve been busy making the Weezer movie back in L.A. the last couple weeks,” Cuomo revealed to the crowd before playing “Undone (The Sweater Song). “But when Coachella called us up, said, ‘Hey Weezer, could you guys make it out for a surprise appearance?,’ we’re like, ‘Heck yeah!’ It feels so good to be here with you guys and let out these emotions.” The movie may entail a strange mix of documentary and fictionalized storytelling, based on filming done at past live shows and fan-related events that involved choreographed fights and humorous audience interactions. While walking his dog over the weekend, bassist Scott Shriner gave TMZ an update on his wife, Jillian Lauren Shriner, who was recently involved in a police shooting incident and was arrested for attempted murder. “She’s all right,” he said. “Thank you for asking.” (Rolling Stone)
