John Berry, one of the original Beastie Boys has died at the age of 52. He was at a hospice in Danvers, MASS. He had suffered from frontal lobe dementia that had been intensifying in the months before his death.

Berry, the band’s original guitarist, is credited with naming the Beastie Boys when they were teenagers.  RollingStone.com has more.
